Get to Know: Hannah Conner

We are so pleased to welcome Hannah Conner, LPC to our practice and are excited to share her expertise. In addition to the info you can see on Hannah’s About Me page, let’s get to know her a little bit more.

Why did you become a coach/therapist?

I have always found value within emotional vulnerability and connectivity. I really wanted to harness that interest and help people who might not be as comfortable within that space become confident in themselves.

My specialization in sport and health psychology came from personal experiences. Athletically, I come from a background where mental health took a backseat to mental toughness and love to currently work with individuals to find a balance of both.

What are your favorite parts about being a coach/therapist?

I really enjoy helping people find tools that they can utilize to make life more manageable and they can use for the rest of their lives. I also really enjoy what I learn from clients.

How do you practice your own self-care?

I am a therapist who is in therapy. I also really enjoy moving my body in various ways such as; dance, weight lifting, or even distance running. I also try to find new ways to be creative through design and cooking.

What's something about coaching/recovery/sport psychology you wish more people knew?

I wish that people knew how much societal stigma overlaps with suffering and judgement. Often, I find that this has kept people from seeking help for extended periods of time. It's something I like to work on 'de-bunking' with clients and a point of advocacy for me.

If you weren't a coach/therapist, what would you choose to do for work instead?

I find a lot of pleasure through hands-on activities. I really like the idea of working within the food industry or doing something else creative that provides to people artistically.
