About Hannah
Who Am I?
I’m Hannah Conner, LCPC (she/her) - I’m a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, mental performance & recovery coach, guest lecturer, group facilitator, & creative. I’m a recreational athlete, endurance athlete, dancer, & on my own recovery journey.
I’m here to welcome you to this process whether this is your first time seeking help, or you have years of experience.
In coaching, I utilize a collaborative approach to identify your goals, skills you already have, and how to build new ones. I work towards building and maintaining change and love assisting people in this journey.
I fully believe that you are the expert within your own experience and operate as someone who will help guide you through the challenges and struggles that put that into question.
I love to help people find confidence and compassion within themselves that is sustainable and not built on societal successes and expectations.
The coaching relationship that I align with is that of advocacy, feasibility, and understanding.
In my free time, I enjoy being physically active, catching up on reality TV, and hanging out with my dog, Buddy (who you might see during our virtual sessions).
My Approach
My approach to working with you is to find how I can best support your individual needs through empathy and encouragement.
I create a warm and nonjudgmental space for you to explore things that might be holding you back while compassionately addressing unhealthy or unhelpful ways of living.
I love helping people build a toolkit for their mental health that will be helpful life-long.
I will help you identify ways of thinking that may not be serving you and help build new thought patterns that will help set you up for holistic health.
We may be a good fit for coaching if you are in recovery from; anxiety, substance misuse/or are sober curious, OCD, eating concerns (diagnosed or undiagnosed), or trauma.
I also have a specialization in Sport and Health Psychology that allows me to work with people who are interested about; athletic identity, mental skills training, retirement transitions, career ending injuries, and athlete specific trauma.
What’s My Experience?
I’m a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and utilize experience and training from that background for coaching.
I received my Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a Minor in Counseling from Lake Superior State University and my Master of Counseling with a specialization in Sport and Health Psychology from Adler University. During my graduate training, I worked with those struggling with addiction and co-occurring disorders.
I also provided mental skills training to the Chicago Wildfire where I ran athlete assessments, provided mental health support, and assisted with group cohesion.
My professional experience includes working in community-based substance misuse treatment where I facilitated groups for individuals with primary substance use disorders and provided case management.
I also have experience working as a therapist in private practice settings with clients experiencing a wide range of mental health conditions.
I’ve worked with a wide variety of athletes and coaches who are looking to enhance their mental wellbeing and performance. I am also a part of The United States Olympic & Paralympic Mental Health Registry that provides mental health support and collaborative care to athletes preparing for and competing in the games.
In addition, I have also provided lectures and presentations surrounding compassion fatigue and practitioner burnout to PA students at Rush University and the Association for Applied Sport Psychology.
